Cabinet meeting focuses on institutional building

The Government convened its regular monthly meeting on August 30, focusing on institutional building and reviewing the performance of socio-economic tasks in August and the first eight months of 2016.

Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said localities nationwide are striving to reform their way of thinking and working style toward making the business community a driving force for growth, improving the business and investment environment, and fostering startups.

He also appreciated the strict punishment of deforestation cases and officials who have committed violations.

Mentioning the equitization of large businesses with high profits like the Saigon Beer Corporation (Sabeco), Hanoi Beer Corporation (Habeco) and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), the Government leader stressed the need to ensure transparency and publicity of the equitization process so as to win trust of both domestic and foreign investors.

During the meeting, which lasts until September 1, the cabinet members will comment on a draft decree promulgating the Government’s working regulation as a basis for ministries and sectors to perform their tasks to serve the people and businesses.

They will also discuss and give opinions on five draft laws, one draft decree, one draft ordinance and other important documents.

The Prime Minister requested lawmakers to change their mind of lawmaking, ensuring the feasibility of laws and creating a favorable legal corridor for the people and enterprises. He required thorough regulatory impact assessment while attaching importance to regulations on handling of violations to ensure the strictness and deterrence of law.

The meeting will also hear the Ministry of Finance’s report on the management and use of public assets.- (VNA/VLLF)
