Circular No. 97/2011/TT-BTC: Passport, visa issuance fees revised

From September 1, the fee for granting entry and exit laissez-passers to Vietnamese citizens to travel or work in Chinese cities and provinces bordering Vietnam will be VND 50,000.

This is provided in Ministry of Finance Circular No. 97/2011/TT-BTC of July 5, which amends Circular No. 66/2009/TT-BTC of March 30, 2009, prescribing the collection, remittance, management and use of fees for granting passports, visas and papers for entry, exit, transit and residence in Vietnam.

Under the Circular, fees for granting new passports, re-granting passports in replacement lost or damaged ones and renewal of expired passports will be VND 200,000, 400,000 and 100,000, respectively.

Fee rates of VND 200,000, 100,000 and 10,000 will be applicable to granting papers for exit, written certifications of personnel elements, and diplomatic notes for entry visas, respectively.

Border laissez-passers for travelers between Vietnam and Laos or Vietnam and Cambodia and trade staffs and border officers for traveling from Vietnam’s to China’s border areas will be liable to the fee of VND 50,000.

A quarter of the current fee will be collected in case passport contents are modified and for children accompanying with their relatives who have valid passports or other equivalent papers.

Other provisions of Circular No. 66/2009/TT-BTC remain unchanged.-
