DECISION No. 1327/QD-TTg: PM approves master plan on public transportation

The Prime Minister has approved a master plan aiming at rapid development of bus transportation in big cities, especially Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as static traffic facilities and road works for disabled road-users up to 2020 and 2030.

Under Vietnam’s road transport master plan for the next decade promulgated together with Prime Minister Decision No. 1327/QD-TTg of August 24, the increase of personal means of transport will be controlled to help curb traffic congestion and ensure urban traffic safety. Incentives will be given to entities of all economic sectors investing in road infrastructure to satisfy all cargo and passenger transportation needs, ensuring quality services, reasonable freight and fare rates, safety and convenience, reducing traffic accidents and mitigating environmental pollution.

By 2020, the nation will have a total of 2.8-3 million automobiles, of which 50%, 17% and 33% will be privately owned cars, passenger cars and trucks, respectively. The number of motorcycles will be con-trolled in urban areas and localities where mass transit services are unavailable.-
