Decree No. 89/2011/ND-CP: Logistics firms to enjoy swifter licensing process

Under Government Decree No. 89/2011/ND-CP of October 10, 2011, amending some articles of Decree No. 87/2009/ND-CP of October 19, 2009, on multimodal transportation, from November 25, the time limit for granting a license for international multimodal transport business will be reduced from ten to seven business days.

A dossier of application for an international multimodal transportation license for a business of a country being a contracting party to the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Multimodal Transport or a business of a country which has signed a treaty on multimodal transport with Vietnam comprises: an application; a copy of the international multimodal transportation registration certificate, issued by a competent agency of such country and legalized by a consulate; and a contract on professional liability insurance for international multimodal transportation or an equivalent guarantee.

The time limit for re-grant of an international multimodal transportation license is seven working days. The license is valid for five years after its grant.

If the license application is rejected, the Ministry of Transport will make a written reply within three working days clearly stating the reason.-
