The Law on Enterprises was passed on November 26th, 2014, by the XIIIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 8th section and took effect on July 1st, 2015, replacing the Law on Enterprises in 2005 and Law on amending and supplementing of Article 170 of the Law on Enterprises in 2013. This Law prescribes the establishment, management organization, reorganization and dissolution of, and activities related to, enterprises, including limited liability companies, joint stock companies, partnerships and private enterprises; and prescribes corporate groups. To facilitate readers in the search and application of the Law, the National Political Publishing House collaborates with the Editortal Board of the Vietnam Law and Legal Forum magazine under Vietnam News Agency (the sole agency authorized in translating “Cong Bao” (Official Gazette) into English) to publish Vietnamese – English bilingual the Current Law on Enterprises (in 2014). The English version is for reference only.

The Law on Treaties was passed on April 9, 2016, by the XIIIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at 11th session. This Law has 10 Chapters with 84 Articles, prescribes the conclusion, reservation, amendment and supplementation, extension, termination, renunciation, withdrawal, suspension of implementation of treaties, deposit, archival, making of certified copies, publication, registration, and organization of implementation of treaties, It came into force on July 1, 2016 To meet the need of readers to learn the Law on Treaties in 2016, the National Political Publishing House collaborates with the Editorial Board of the Vietnam Law & Legal Forum magazine under Vietnam News Agency (the sole agency authorized to translate “Cong Bao” into English) to publish the Vietnamese – English bilingual Law on Treaties. The English translation is reference only. We have the honor of introducing this book to readers.

The Law on Investment was passed on November 26th, 2014, by the XIIIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its eight section and took effect on July 1st, 2015, replacing the Law on Investment in 2005. This Law further improves mechanism and policies to create an equal, favorable and more transparent investment environment in order to attract more domestic and foreign investment. After more than one year of implementation, a number of branches and trades specified in Appendix 4 on the List of sectors and trades subject to conditional business investment of the Law on Investment in 2014 are no longer suitable due to their failure to meet the criteria and the target of attracting investment. In order to improve the Law on Investment in 2014, on November 22nd, 2016, the XIVth National Assembly, at its third session, passed the Law on support for small – and medium-sized enterprises, which has content amending and supplementing the Law on Investment.

The Civil Code was passed on November 24, 2015, by the XIIIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at 10th session. This Civil Code has 6 parts with 689 articles, prescribes the legal status, legal standards for the conduct of individuals and legal persons in relations established on the basis of equality, freedom of will, independence of property, and selfresponsibility. It came into force on January 1, 2017, and replace the Civil Code in 2005. To meet the need of readers to learn the Civil Code in 2015, National Political Publishing House collaborates with Editorial Board of the Vietnam Law & Legal Forum magazine under Vietnam News Agency (the sole agency euthorized to translate “Cong Bao” into English) to publish the Vietnamese – English bilingual Civil Code. The English translation is reference only.

Law on Environmental Protection: passed on November 29, 2005, by the XIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 8th session. It provides for activities of environmental protection; policies, measures and resources for environmental protection; rights and obligations of organizations, households and individuals in environmental protection.

The Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: passed on November 28, 2013, by the XIIIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 6th session. It provides the political regime of Vietnam, and human rights, fundamental rights and obligations of citizens.

The Law on Intellectual Property: passed on November 29, 2005, by the XIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 8th session. It provides for copyright, copyright-related rights, industrial property rights, rights to plant varieties and the protection of these rights.

The Competition Law: passed on December 3, 2004, by the XIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 6th session. It provides for competition-restricting acts, unfair competition acts, order and procedures for settling competition cases, measures to handle violations of competition legislation.

The Law on Adoption: passed on June 17, 2010, by the XIIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 7th session. It provides the principles and conditions for adoption; competence, order and procedures for settling adoptions; rights and obligations of adoptive parents, adopted children and natural parents; and responsibilities of agencies and organizations in adoption.

The Law of the Sea of Vietnam: passed on June 21, 2012, by the XIIIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 3rd session. It provides for the baseline, the internal waters, the territorial sea, the contiguous zone, the exclusive economic zone, the continental shelf, islands, the Paracel and Spratly archipelagoes and other archipelagoes under the sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of Vietnam; operations in Vietnam’s maritime zones; maritime economic development; the management and protection of the sea and islands.
