The Committee has decided to convene the XIIth National Party Congress from January 20-28, 2016, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said at the closing ceremony of the 13th plenum of the Party Central Committee on December 21 in Hanoi.
The documents feature new orientations for developing a socialist-oriented market economy, renewing the growth model and restructuring the economy. Other goals include accelerating industrialization and modernization, improving the efficiency of social management, social progress and justice, enhancing natural resource management and environmental protection, and responding to climate change. The Party leader evaluated the documents submitted during the meeting as a product of the brainpower and will of the entire Party, people and armed forces.
The documents set out plans to continue building a law-ruled socialist state on the legislative, executive and judicial pillars, exercise democracy and reshuffle local administrations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, while fine-tuning legal provisions to comply with the 2013 Constitution.
Stressing the need to continue realizing the Resolution on Party building, the documents pushed efforts to fight corruption and waste, drive back the so-called “self-evolution” and “self-transformation”, and the degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyles among a segment of Party members.
Assessing the leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Party chief said the Committee, Politburo and Secretariat had taken prompt and flexible approaches to curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro-economy and ensuring social welfare, with progress seen in education-training, healthcare, science-technology and socio-culture activities.
The Party Central Committee, Politburo and Secretariat have adopted sound solutions to resolutely defend national independence and sovereignty, maintain socio-political stability and accelerate greater global integration, in dealing with the complicated developments in the region and the world.
In the spirit of self-criticism, the Party Central Committee had also pointed out shortcomings and weaknesses and learned from experience for better performance in the future, the Party leader said, asking the Committee to uphold its sense of responsibility and fulfill the assigned tasks, contributing to the success of the upcoming National Party Congress.- (VNS/VLLF)
