I am a foreign worker in Vietnam. For some reasons, my exit and entry permit, which remains valid for one more year, was lost. How may I apply for re-grant of such permit?

According to the Vietnamese law, an exit and entry permit is valid for three years, and will be considered for re-grant if it is lost or damaged.

According to the Ministry of Public Security's Circular No. 31/2015/TT-BCA of July 6, 2015, an exit and entry permit will be considered for re-grant if it is lost or damaged__Photo: VNA

To be re-granted the exit and entry permit, you must submit a dossier to the Ministry of Public Security’s Immigration Management Department or to the Immigration Management Division of the Police Department of the province or city where you reside. The dossier must comprise:

- An application for re-grant of the exit and entry permit;

- A copy of the permanent residence card, enclosed with the original for comparison (in case you have been granted this card);

- A report on the duration you have temporarily resided in Vietnam, which must be certified by the Police Division of the commune, ward or township where you reside (in case you have not yet been granted the permanent residence card);

- A report on the loss of the exit and entry permit, of which the confirmation by a competent agency of the locality where the permit is lost is not required.

If you submit a dossier to the Immigration Management Department, this department will consider and re-grant an exit and entry permit within five days after receiving a complete dossier.

Or, the Immigration Management Division of the provincial-level Police Department to which you submit a dossier will, within three working days after receiving a complete dossier, examine and hand it over to the Immigration Management Department. Within two working days after receiving the dossier, the Immigration Management Department will consider and re-grant an exit and entry permit.
