The 23rd meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee concluded on May 13 after 4.5 days of sitting.

Vietnam made total savings of nearly VND 54 trillion (USD 2.3 billion) for the State budget last year thanks to thrift and anti-waste practices. Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc revealed the data when he presented a report on the results of thrift and anti-waste work in 2022 at the 23rd session of the National Assembly Standing Committee in Hanoi on May 11.

Adopted in last November, the 66-article Anti-Money Laundering Law provides for measures to prevent, detect, stop and handle organizations and individuals committing acts of money laundering. It also defines responsibilities of agencies, organizations and individuals for money laundering prevention and combat and introduces provisions on international cooperation on money laundering prevention and combat.

In order to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 6th plenum of the 13th Central Party Committee, it is a need to further renew the organizational apparatus and operation of people’s courts toward building the system of independent, professional, modern, equitable, civilized and incorruptible people’s courts serving the Fatherland and the people.

Coming into force from March 1, the Anti-Money Laundering Law is available on Official Gazette Nos 139-141 of 2022, with 66 articles arranged in four chapters, and contains several significant changes compared to its 2012 version.
