After 21 days of sitting, the fourth session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) successfully completed its agenda, said NA Chairman Nguyen Dinh Hue at the closing session of the sitting on November 18.

Under Government Decree 16/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020, detailing a number of articles of the Law on Vietnamese Citizenship, in order to obtain a certificate of Vietnamese citizenship, you have to file proofs of your Vietnamese citizenship as specified in Article 11 of the Law on Vietnamese Citizenship.

As per the Vietnamese Civil Code, an individual has the right to change his/her family name to his/her spouse’s in the marriage and family relations involving foreign elements in accordance with law of the country in which the foreign spouse is a citizen or retrieves his/her family name before the change.

Analysts said the revised laws on housing and real estate business have made Vietnam’s property market more attractive, given its reasonable prices.

Under the Vietnamese housing law, the transfer of residential house ownership must be carried out under house sale and purchase or donation contracts between spouses.

Under Vietnamese law, a Vietnamese citizen who is residing in a foreign country may submit a dossier of application for an ordinary passport at the Vietnamese Embassy in that country.

More people and organizations, including overseas Vietnamese and foreigners, will be entitled to buy and own homes in Vietnam.

Huynh Thi Thai, a Vietnamese woman who has lived in the Republic of Korea for more than 30 years, has become one of the first overseas Vietnamese to receive a visa exemption certificate from the Vietnamese government, enabling her to freely return to her homeland like a Vietnamese citizen.
