The San Diu, which lives in northern mountainous areas with a population of nearly 147,000, celebrates quite a lot of festivals the most important of which is Tet, the lunar New Year festival.

Bac Kan, one of the most disadvantaged northern mountainous provinces in the country, has so far attracted four foreign direct investment projects capitalized at a total of USD 7.9 million. They include a Japan-invested farm produce-processing project and a China-invested timber processing project located Thanh Binh industrial park - the first one in the province. Two other projects which are invested by Taiwan (China) and located outside in Thanh Binh industrial park are specialized in tea plant growing and timber processing.

Located 80 kilometers to the north of Hanoi capital, Thai Nguyen province borders Bac Kan province in the north, Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang provinces in the west, and Lang Son and Bac Giang provinces in the east. 

Encompassing an area of over 1,370 square kilometers and having a population of 1.18 million, Vinh Phuc province is located in the Red River delta. It borders Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces in the north, Hanoi in the south, Phu Tho province in the west and Soc Son and Dong Anh districts of Hanoi in the east.

Nghe An is the largest province and the fourth most populous locality in the country, following Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Thanh Hoa province.

Encompassing an area of 6,099 square kilometers and having a population of around 1.2 million, Quang Ninh province is located in the northeast border area of Vietnam. It is the only province sharing both land and marine borders with China, with the land borderline of 118.825 km and marine boundary delineation of more than 191 km in the Tonkin Gulf.

With a population of around 96,000, the San Diu ethnic minority group has resided largely in provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang and Thanh Hoa.

The San Diu, a Sino-Tibetan language ethnic minority group, lives in the northern provinces of Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho and Bac Can, with a population of nearly 127,000.
