“Dak Lak province must grasp and bring into full play agricultural economy thinking and expeditiously perform the key task of agricultural restructuring toward a multi-value, clean, organic, circular and responsible agriculture,” said Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Trung.

A national conference kicked off in Ha Long city in the northern province of Quang Ninh on February 21 to review the operations of People’s Councils of provinces and centrally-run cities in 2022, with the participation of representatives from the provincial/municipal People’s Councils nationwide.

An Giang, a southwestern province that shares a border of around 100 kilometers with Cambodia, is calling for investment in urban infrastructure, hi-tech agriculture and tourism in order to turn itself into a modern, smart, ecological province imbued with cultural identity of the Mekong River delta.

This article is an excerpt from the Report “Public Procurement: Findings from a Business Perception Survey”, which was the result of a collaborative research initiative conducted from July 2021 to June 2022 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Highlighted here are key findings from the business survey, aiming to understand the experience and perception of businesses in public procurement activities in localities, especially in the health sector.

Access to local land use plans remains limited on a national scale despite the provisions of the 2013 Land Law and the 2016 Law on Access to Information which mandate the posting of local land use master plans and annual land use plans for public view in various forms, including on digital platforms. According to the 2021 PAPI survey, only one-fifth of respondents nationwide said they were aware of local land use plans since 2011.

Bac Kan, one of the most disadvantaged northern mountainous provinces in the country, has so far attracted four foreign direct investment projects capitalized at a total of USD 7.9 million. They include a Japan-invested farm produce-processing project and a China-invested timber processing project located Thanh Binh industrial park - the first one in the province. Two other projects which are invested by Taiwan (China) and located outside in Thanh Binh industrial park are specialized in tea plant growing and timber processing.

Ha Giang province has considered prosperity and success of investors a measurement of its dynamism and development. The province has applied investment incentive policies, reformed administrative formalities, improved investment and business climate and supported business development so as to attract investment in the province’s three socio-economic development pillars - commercial agriculture, tourism and cross-border trade.

Tuyen Quang province is striving to become a national model locality for forestry-based economic development in association with eco-tourism. With 423,000 hectares of forests, including 120,000 hectares of planted forests, it ranks third in the country for forest coverage rate and first among the northern midland and mountainous provinces in terms of harvested timber.

Yen Bai currently accommodates three industrial parks (IPs), including the Southern IP and Au Lau IP in Yen Bai city and Minh Quan IP in Tran Yen district. There are three China-invested projects specialized in timber processing operating in the Southern IP and the Republic of Korea (RoK)-invested garment project in the Au Lau IP, Director of the provincial Management Board of Industrial Parks Trinh Huynh Yen told the Vietnam Law and Legal Forum magazine.

As a northern coastal province in the Red River delta and surrounded by Hoa and Luoc tributaries of the Thai Binh river system, Thai Binh province is described as a floating island.
