Vietnam will continue bringing into play its role and making more active and constructive contributions to the common work of the United Nations in all the three pillars – security-politics, development and human rights, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has affirmed.

Protecting and caring for health of nearly 23 million Vietnamese children and students is the responsibility of not only their families but also the community, the society and the entire political system, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on February 10.

The Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments was passed in 2019 by the National Assembly[1], significantly contributing to the institutionalization of the Party’s guidelines and the State’s humanitarian policy toward convicts and inmates. Since then, the execution of criminal judgments has recorded notable progresses; security and safety of detention and custody facilities have been better guaranteed; and the correctional education of prisoners has become more effective, thus facilitating the exercise of their human rights.

By 2045, all rural residents will be able to access clean and hygienic water in a safe and sustainable manner.

The Government has recently issued Decree 07/2021/ND-CP on multidimensional poverty line for the 2022-2025 period. Accordingly, the norms for measuring multidimensional poverty line for 2021 remain unchanged as the Government extends the implementation of Decision 59 dated November 19, 2015, on multidimensional poverty line for 2016-20.

On June 18, 2020, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed the long awaited Law on Public-Private Partnership (PPP Law) which establishes an umbrella legal framework for all PPP projects and aims to attract more private investment to the development of Vietnam’s infrastructure. This article looks at some of the key changes under the Law, some positive and some less so, with respect to making the PPP framework more appealing to private sector developers, investors and lenders.

Stepping into a new decade of the 21st century, along with economic opportunities, Vietnam has to face numerous challenges, including environmental pollution and degradation. This article reviews the country’s environmental protection work over the past years and proposes some recommendations in the upcoming time.
