The minimum wage at foreign-invested enterprises would be raised to reflect the increasing living costs.
Under a plan for salary reform proposed by the Vietnam Confederation of Labor, the minimum wage for employees working at foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) is set to be raised to USD 45 per month from between USD 26.50 and USD 39.80.
While the minimum salary in State-owned enterprises and agencies was raised from VND 180,000 to VND 210,000, VND 290,000 and then to VND 310,000 and the consumer price index changed sharply, the minimum pay for workers at FIEs has remained the same for years.
