The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on January 11 approved a resolution on procedures for carrying out several oversight activities of the NA, NA Standing Committee, NA deputies’ delegations and NA deputies.

The resolution, adopted on the last day of the Committee’s sixth session starting on January 9, issues the Regulation on order and procedures for formulating, implementing, and reporting on implementation of, the oversight programs of the NA and NA Standing Committee; and holding and supervising question-and-answer sessions during meetings of the NA and NA Standing Committee.
The Regulation also stipulates organization of specialized oversight activities of the NA and NA Standing Committee and oversight activities of NA deputies’ delegations and NA deputies; and review of the settlement of petitions after oversight.
Talking about oversight activities of the NA Standing Committee on the settlement of complaints and petitions of voters, some participants said the regulations on oversight activities of the NA and supervision activities of People’s Councils remained not clear enough. They proposed adding specific provisions to create a legal basis for the NA Standing Committee to better supervise the settlement of complaints and petitions of voters.
During the session, the NA Standing Committee also approved a resolution promulgating the Regulation on coordination between the Supreme People’s Court and the Ministry of Defense in managing military courts.- (VNS/VLLF)
