Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested ministries, agencies, provinces and cities to exert their efforts to achieve a gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of at least 8 percent next year, higher than the National Assembly’s target at 6.5-percent.

The request was made in official telegram No. 137/CD-TTg of December 29.

In the telegram, the Premier underscored that 2025 is a milestone year for Vietnam to embark on a new era of development – the era of the nation’s rise. The focus will be on strengthening economic growth in line with stabilizing the macro-economy and controlling inflation, wrote the telegram.

The cabinet leader also asked for efforts to renew traditional growth drivers, including investment, consumption and exports as well as increase the disbursement and efficiency of public investment.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment will be in charge to develop mechanisms to attract foreign investment, focusing on large-scale and high-tech projects.

A sandbox for circular economy will be submitted to the Government in the first quarter of next year. Vietnam will also issue green taxonomy to promote green transition, according to the telegram.

Another important focus is to strengthen the development of the strategic infrastructure system, including urban railways in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the North-South high-speed railway, railways connected with China and the Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai.

Efforts should be exerted to speed up the resumption of nuclear power plants, the construction of international financial centers in HCM City and Da Nang and the foundation of free trade zones in several localities, said the governmental leader.- (VLLF)
