Jordanian King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein begins official visit to Vietnam
According to Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Diep, King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein’s visit is of great significance, which is taking place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations (August 9, 1980 - August 9, 2025).

King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein arrived in Hanoi on November 12 afternoon, beginning a two-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.

The Jordanian delegation was welcomed at Noi Bai International Airport by member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, and Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE and Jordan Nguyen Thanh Diep.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Diep, King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein’s visit is of great significance, which is taking place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations (August 9, 1980 - August 9, 2025).

This is the first visit to Vietnam by the head of the Kingdom of Jordan to Vietnam and the first exchange of delegations at the Head of State/Government level between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations. This is also the first visit to Vietnam by a head of state of a Middle Eastern nation in nine years. The trip marks a historic milestone in the relationship between the two countries, opening a new phase of cooperation, creating a premise for promoting cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

During his stay, the King is scheduled to hold talks with President Luong Cuong, witness the signing of several cooperation documents, meet with other key leaders of Vietnam, deliver a speech a Vietnam – Jordan business forum, and attend a textile industry roundtable. He will also lay a wreath at the monument dedicated to war heroes and martyrs on Bac Son street, as well as pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the late leader's mausoleum in Hanoi.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Vietnam–Jordan ties have steadily developed and strengthened. The two countries have maintained several high-level visits and exchanges, including Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu’s trip to Jordan in December 2022; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s meeting with Crown Prince of Jordan Al Hussein bin Abdullah II during the 8th annual edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII8) Conference in Saudi Arabia in October 2024, among others.

Recently, in a meeting with the Jordanian King on the sidelines of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice, France, in June, PM Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to multifaceted cooperation with Jordan.

Meanwhile, Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein expressed admiration for Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and strong progress. The two sides agreed to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels to further enhance political trust, and explore negotiations and cooperation agreements on trade, investment, and other areas.- (VNA/VLLF)
