From July 1, buildings used for both residential and commercial purposes will have to meet more fire safety requirements in addition to general conditions for residences, according to the 2024 Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue.

Under the Law, such buildings will be required to have fire sufficient safety warning and instruction signs. Especially, there must be solutions for preventing the spread of fire between residential spaces and commercial spaces.

For buildings for production or trading of goods prone to fire and explosion, the Law requires the installation of fire alarms, ventilation solutions, and equipment to detect leaks of dangerous flammable gases. Areas designed for production and business in those buildings must be fire-proofed from the escape route of residential areas.

Regarding fire prevention during the use of electricity, the Law requires individuals and households to install and use electrical systems that meet technical and legal regulations on fire safety. In addition, it is obligatory to regularly check electrical wires and equipment, promptly repair or replace those no longer meeting fire safety requirements.

The Law also adds regulations on rescue and preferential policies for organizations and individuals engaged in researching, applying and transferring science and technology advances for fire prevention and fighting and rescue.- (VLLF)
