Continuing the agenda of the ongoing 9th session, the National Assembly (NA) on June 17 is set to vote on a law amending and supplementing some articles of the Law on Enterprises and a resolution on the reduction of value-added tax (VAT).

For the remainder of the day, lawmakers are scheduled to convene in plenary to discuss several major topics, including supplementary assessments of the implementation of the 2024 socio-economic development and state budget plans; the status of similar plans in the first months of 2025; the approval of the 2023 state budget final accounts; and the continuation of several special mechanisms and policies previously approved by the NA for certain localities following apparatus restructuring and administrative boundary expansion in line with the Party and State policy.

The legislature will also deliberate on thrift practice and anti-wastefulness, as well as the progress towards the national goal of gender equality last year.

The session is broadcast live on national television and radio.

According to the Government’s report on the implementation of the 2025 socio-economic development plan, the GDP growth in the first quarter is estimated at 6.93 percent, the highest for the same period in the 2020–2025 period. Several localities recorded double-digit growth.

In the first four months of the year, macroeconomic conditions remained broadly stable, inflation was well contained, and key economic balances were guaranteed. State budget revenue reached over VND 944 trillion (USD 36.22 billion), equivalent to 48 percent of the annual target and up 26.3 percent year-on-year. Total import-export turnover was estimated at over USD 275 billion, increasing by 15 percent.- (VNA/VLLF)
