The National Assembly Standing Committee ended its ten-day meeting on April 20, with a focus on the agenda for the upcoming legislative session.

During the meeting, committee members discussed remaining differences regarding the draft laws on administrative penalties, pricing, water resources, marketing, maritime and law education and dissemination, among others.

They also passed an ordinance governing the codification of the nation’s legal system and issued a resolution on the implementation of policies toward people who have contributed to the revolution.

The committee members gave their opinions on other proposed or revised laws still in the drafting stage, including the laws on conservation, publication, legal profession, libraries, and cooperatives.

They heard reports on public investment in agriculture and rural areas, settlement of the state budget for 2010, and implementation of the national socio-economic development plan during the first quarter of this year. The lawmakers also commented on the Government’s proposals for restructuring the national economy.

The program to build laws and ordinances in 2013 was also discussed at the meeting.

The Government planned to submit 35 drafts laws and three draft ordinances to the National Assembly at its fifth and sixth sessions.

It also proposed delaying three draft laws this year, which are the amended Land Law, the amended Law on Tax Administration and the Hanoi Capital Law.-
