PM requests remediation of consequences of serious workplace accident in Yen Bai

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 22 signed a telegram requesting prompt actions to remedy the consequences of a serious workplace accident in a cement factory in the northern province of Yen Bai the same day.

According to Telegram 39/CD-TTg which was sent to the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the People’s Committee of Yen Bai, the accident, occurred at 1:30pm on April 22, claimed seven lives and injured three others while the stone crushing line of the factory of the Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company in Yen Binh district is repaired.

The cause of the accident was initially determined to be a problem with the crusher’s electric motor.

The PM asked the chairperson of the provincial People’s Committee to give timely support to families of the deceased and assist the injured, while directing authorized agencies to clarify the reasons behind the incident and dealing with the consequences.

The Ministry of Public Security was requested to direct and coordinate with the police of Yen Bai and relevant agencies to promptly investigate the case and strictly handle legal violations (if any).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Construction was asked to coordinate with the Ministry of Lalor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the provincial People’s Committee and relevant agencies to review regulations, standards and procedures of exploiting and processing minerals for cement, thus ensuring absolute safety for laborers.- (VLLF)
