PVN intensifies IT application for cyber security assurance
The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) is strengthening the application of information technology and digital transformation in all production and business activities for assurance of cyber security and information security, said PVN’s Deputy General Director Le Ngoc Son at the Group’s 2023 Cyber Security Conference held on May 23 in Hanoi.

Son said the meeting aims to evaluate the results of cyber security and information security work at the PVN and help the Group raise its capacity to prevent and fight hi-tech crimes in the future.

He added that in recent years, cyber security and information security risks have become complicated all over the world. The PVN and its subsidiaries are facing the majority of cyberattacks in the country. However, thanks to the coordination and assistance of the Department of Cyber Security and Hi-Tech Crime Prevention (Department A05) under the Ministry of Public Security, many targeted cyber-attacks to information systems of the PVN and its subsidiaries had been detected and promptly handled.

At the meeting, a representative of Department A05 shared information about solutions to ensure cyber security and information security, emphasizing the establishment of a modern cyber defense system and improvement of resilience to targeted cyberattacks. The representative also proposed taking comprehensive cyber security and information security solutions together with regularly carrying out inspection and evaluation of cyber security and information security for information systems, and promoting training activities to improve professional qualifications for full-time officers in charge of cyber security and information security.

Concluding the conference, Son asked the PVN and its subsidiaries to study applying technology solutions to improve the capacity to prevent and respond to cyberattacks in the coming time. He assigned the PVN’s Office to coordinate with professional units of Department A05 and related units of the Group in organizing the realization of the conclusions made at the conference.- (VLLF)
