Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed related ministries and localities to tighten state management of e-commerce.

According to official telegram 119/CD-TTg dated November 25, the Premier said that in Vietnam, e-commerce is expanding rapidly and has become a popular business method recognized by both enterprises and the public as the method makes it easier for businesses and individuals to introduce and deliver products to consumers.

However, the rapid development of e-commerce also presents various challenges for online transactions, management, and supervision efforts, consumer protection, and ensuring product quality amid the problems of counterfeit and poor-quality products, and violations of intellectual property rights as well as consumer protection and tax laws.

Therefore, the cabinet leader requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate with related ministries and agencies to promptly propose the making, amendment, and supplementation of policies and laws regarding the management of e-commerce.

The Ministry of Finance was assigned to coordinate with related ministries and agencies to propose to the Government the issuance of a decree amending and supplementing Decree No. 123/2020/ND-CP providing regulations on invoices and receipts.

The Ministry of Information and Communications was tasked to propose amendments and supplementations to legal regulations in order to strengthen penalties, suspend, prevent, and revoke operation licenses for e-commerce-related violations.

The Ministry of Public Security was assigned to work with related ministries and agencies to promote the implementation of electronic authentication services for e-commerce platforms. It was also asked to direct functional units to strengthen cybersecurity in e-commerce activities and apply measures for prevention, combat, and handling of violators in accordance with the law.- (VLLF)
