By 2030, the National Statistical Database will reach an advanced level among the ASEAN countries and become a modern statistical system in the world by 2045.
Such target is set forth in Prime Minister Decision 1627/QD-TTg, approving the Scheme on development of the National Statistical Database through 2030, with a vision toward 2045.
Accordingly, the country is expected to build, manage, use and update a centralized national statistical database to provide complete, accurate and timely statistical information, meeting requirements of the direction, administration and policy planning by the Party, National Assembly and Government, ministries, sectors and localities, socio-economic development, and needs of domestic and foreign users.
Specifically, by 2023, it will improve institutions on data sources for the statistical work and complete the connection and provision of statistical data and information as well as administrative data from ministries, branches and localities to the National Statistical Database.
All ministries, sectors, provinces and centrally run cities will be able to build technical infrastructure facilities for information technology application for their statistical databases up to uniform standards for the purpose of connecting to the technical infrastructure system of the National Statistical Database. Shared applications will be installed in 80 percent of statistical databases of ministries, sectors and localities.
It is also targeted that ministries and sectors will be able to connect and automatically transmit national statistical indicators and survey data obtained under the national statistical survey program implemented by assigned ministries and sectors to the National Statistical Database.
To achieve those goals, the Scheme sets out several tasks and solutions, including improving institutions, enhancing coordination among ministries, sectors and localities; developing information technology infrastructure; improving capacity and awareness of relevant agencies and localities; and intensifying international cooperation and mobilizing the participation of all businesses and experts throughout the country.- (VLLF)
