Vietnam and Bangladesh will continue to boost legislative cooperation through exchanges of high-ranking delegations, share legal experience and implement cooperation agreements between the two sides.

The agreement was reached by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury during their talks in Hanoi on July 20.

They also agreed to consider the establishment of the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups, which will serve as a bridge to boost exchanges between parliamentarians of the two countries as well as will work to promote the economic cooperation and exchanges between the two people.

They entrust relevant agencies to accelerate the building and preparation to soon sign a cooperation mechanism between the two countries to increase cooperation efficiency between the two legislative bodies.

At the talks, they expressed delight at the continuous development of the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bangladesh.

NA Chairwoman Ngan spoke highly of the visit to Vietnam by the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament, the first visit by a top Bangladeshi legislator since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973.

She said the visit will help promote the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two nations and two peoples, and open up a new development stage between the two legislative bodies.

Ngan affirmed that Vietnam has always attached importance and wished to enhance the traditional friendship and cooperation with Bangladesh.

Vietnam’s NA will create favorable legal conditions to help foster the cooperation between the two countries in all fields, she said.

Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Shirin expressed her delight at leading the high-ranking Bangladesh Parliament delegation visit to Vietnam.

She invited NA Chairwoman Ngan to visit Bangladesh, and the latter accepted the invitation with pleasure.- (VNS/VLLF)
