A workshop was held in Hanoi on December 18 to mark the 60th anniversary of the World Human Rights Declaration and the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Delegates discussed issues related to these documents as well as Vietnam’s achievements in the field of human rights and assurance of the rights of the disabled.
Vietnam considered the promotion and protection of human rights a key task in national construction and development, said Pham Binh Minh, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, adding that the country has acceded to many international human rights conventions and actively performed its tasks as a signatory to these conventions.
As one of the first countries to adopt the convention on the elimination of discrimination against women, Vietnam proved its determination to promote and protect human rights, said the UN resident coordinator in Vietnam, John Hendra.-
