Deputies pointed to the need to revise the 2005 Maritime Code of Vietnam to bring it in line with the 2013 Constitution and international conventions to which Vietnam is a contracting party.

Deputies pointed to the need to revise the 2005 Maritime Code of Vietnam to bring it in line with the 2013 Constitution and international conventions to which Vietnam is a contracting party at the 37th meeting of the XIIIth National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee.

During this meeting held on April 6-10, deputies said that many articles and provisions of the code needed guiding documents to bring them to life.

Nguyen Van Giau, Chairman of the NA Economic Committee, asked the drafting committee to thoroughly review relevant laws, including the Enterprises Law, Labor Code, Law on Inland Waterway Navigation, Law of the Sea of Vietnam and others, to make sure the code would be in harmony with them as well as with other treaties to which Vietnam was a signatory.

During the meeting, lawmakers also discussed other important issues concerning information security, charges and fees, penal code and criminal procedures, state budget, organization of the Government and local administrations, and election of deputies to the NA and People’s Councils.-
