Agribank had a working session with the delegation of the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia
On August 27, 2024, at Agribank Head Office, Agribank Deputy General Director Doan Ngoc Luu and leaders of a number of Departments and Centers received and worked with the delegation of the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia led by Dr. Dorita Setiawan, Assistant to the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. This is a working session to realize the cooperation commitment of the two governments at the talks between the two ministers in May 2024. The working session focused on discussing the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of food security and sustainable agriculture, and sharing about Agribank's agricultural credit policies to support farmers in improving their competitiveness. This program is part of the long-term development strategy for Vietnam and Indonesia to achieve the goal of becoming high-income countries by 2045.

Regarding the role and size of Agribank's operations, Deputy General Director Doan Ngoc Luu affirmed that Agribank is a bank that plays an important role in supporting the development of rural areas and agriculture in Vietnam under the direction of the Government. Agribank is also one of the four largest commercial banks in Vietnam with agricultural credit accounting for 65 percent of total outstanding loans and is also one of the largest retail banks in Vietnam with more than 20 million customers. Currently, Agribank is implementing many different support programs and policies, including the implementation of national goals on new rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction.
During the discussion, Dr. Dorita Setiawan expressed special interest in Agribank's policies related to communication on products, services, insurance, preferential policies to promote agricultural and rural development and import-export financing. Regarding these contents, Deputy General Director Doan Ngoc Luu emphasized that Agribank has implemented many diverse communication solutions, utilizing technology to promote products, while improving service quality. Regarding insurance, Agribank has a subsidiary specializing in insurance, including agricultural insurance, supporting customers in production and business activities. In addition, Agribank is also implementing seven policy credit programs and two national target programs on building of new-style countryside and sustainable poverty reduction in key areas, focusing on priority subjects to support the improvement of household economic conditions. Agribank has also had many initiatives to support people such as preferential interest rates for loans in the fields of coffee replanting, housing, shipbuilding, etc. or establishing lending groups to improve lending efficiency and optimize loan sources. Regarding import-export financing, Deputy General Director Doan Ngoc Luu said that Agribank has launched the program "Accompanying import-export enterprises in 2024" with many preferential policies on interest rates and services, to support businesses in this field.

At the end of the working session, Dr. Dorita Setiawan expressed her appreciation for the enthusiastic reception. Dr. Setiawan also said that she would make recommendations to the Indonesian Presidential Envoy on strengthening cooperation with Agribank, and learning and applying Agribank's agricultural banking model in Indonesia. The working session ended in an atmosphere of cooperation and hope for future development opportunities between the two countries, especially in the fields of agriculture and food security, to achieve sustainable development goals and prosperity.
