Preparations for the upcoming 5th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 5) are in full swing, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan said. Addressing the 4th session of the National Committee for ASEM 5 on August 11, he pointed out that the Meeting, scheduled to open in October this year, should create a fine impression of Vietnam for delegates.
Mr. Khoan lauded the preparations made by relevant ministries and agencies over the past months, including the successful organization of the Asia-Europe forums for parliaments, trade unions, young people and photographers.
At the session, the Committee agreed on issues relating to the theme, agenda and documents of ASEM 5 as well as press coverage for the event.
Vietnam and ASEM member countries will also host several cultural activities during the meeting, such as an Asia-Europe art performance, a fashion show, and a film festival, to enhance cooperation and understanding between the two continents.-
