Free Trade Agreements (FTA) liberalized transnational trade of services and investments and always came along with free cross-border movement of laborers, Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Khanh Ngoc said at the 9th Employment Law Conference of the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA) under the theme Free Trade Agreements and Transnational Employment - legal issues and implications, held in Hanoi on August 14-15.
The conference focused on a number of key issues, including FTAs’ impacts on regional employment, immigration and taxation in transnational employment, employment obligations in host countries, liability for workplace injuries to transnational employees, cross-border civil liability for workplaces, and criminal liability for actions in host countries.
Speaking at the conference, President Truong Tan Sang pledged to facilitate the association’s deeper participation in judicial reform. He proposed the association to increase professional training and foreign language courses for its members and expand international cooperation.- (VLLF)
