Court rulings to be published

The publication of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC)’s rulings would help make Vietnam’s judicial system more transparent, said SPC Vice President Dang Quang Phuong on May 15 at the launch of the publication.

The publication, containing civil, economic and criminal decisions, will be delivered in six thousand copies to subordinate courts as a reference for judges to consult when facing similar situations.

The book could also help citizens understand the judgment on a civil or economic case in advance of their involvement in a similar case, which should help reduce the court’s work, Mr. Phuong said.

More importantly, the book had a key role in building a legal environment for international trade, so that foreign investors would able to see the transparency of the judicial system, he added.

The publication served as another stride in Vietnam’s commitment to international standards of legal governance, transparency and the independence of the judicial system, the US ambassador said.

The book aims to support the requirement for the uniform application of law by courts; improve the quality of judgments; increase citizens’ awareness of courts’ standpoints in handling disputes and violations; and provide vivid adjudicative practice to assist lawyers, researchers, lecturers and students in teaching and studying laws.-
