From November 1, convicts sentenced to death will be executed by poison injections instead of facing the firing squad as at present.
Under Government Decree No. 82/2011/ND-CP of September 16, drugs used for execution of death sentences will contain an anesthetic (sodium thiopental), a nervous system and muscle paralysis agent (pancuronium bromide), and a heart toxic (potassium chloride).

Under the Decree, executors and vein-finding doctors will be eligible for an allowance doubling the common minimum salary; and persons joining sentence-executing councils, forensic doctors and other persons involved the execution will be eligible for an allowance equal to the common minimum salary.-
