Fires, explosions at high-risk places must be prevented: PM

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies and chairpersons of provincial-level People’s Committees to continue implementing relevant directives of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, National Assembly and Government to prevent fires, explosions at high-risk places prior to the upcoming New Year and Lunar New Year holidays.

According to Directive No. 46/CT-TTg dated December 23, the governmental leader called for efforts to enhance public awareness of fire and explosion risks, organize frequent training on firefighting and rescue skills and disseminate legal knowledge on fire safety standards for various types of buildings, facilities and residences.

Any violations must be strictly handled, even temporary suspension or complete closure of operations for severe cases, said the PM.

The Ministry of Public Security was assigned to intensify training for local defense and security forces, grassroots firefighting teams, and specialized firefighting units. The ministry was also tasked to ensure the effective implementation of the four on-site model to be ready to promptly organize firefighting and rescue operations upon the occurrence of incidents.

The localities that have not yet issued guidance documents on urgent solutions to enhance fire safety conditions were urged to complete the work by December 30, wrote the directive.- (VLLF)
