Full-time National Assembly deputies will mull over 12 draft laws at the 6th meeting of the NA Standing Committee in Hanoi on August 27.
Addressing the event, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man said 11 out of 12 draft laws were mulled over at the NA’s 7th session. They included the Law on Juvenile Justice, the Law on People's Air Defense, the Law on Geology and Minerals, the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Pharmacy, the Law on Urban and Rural Planning, the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue, the revised Law on Trade Unions, the revised Law on Human Trafficking Prevention and Control, the revised Notary Law, the revised Law on Cultural Heritage and the revised Law on Value Added Tax.
The top legislator asked full-time NA deputies and delegates attending the meeting to focus on analyzing, discussing, and clearly expressing their opinions on the contents proposed by the reviewing agency, especially those with different options; and on whether the bills are qualified to be submitted to the NA for approval at the next session or not.
He underlined the need to ensure the quality of the draft laws, and thoroughly grasp and properly implement Regulation 178-QD/TW of the Politburo on controlling power, preventing and combating corruption and negative acts in law-making.
Policies must ensure no loopholes to prevent "policy corruption", "group interests" and "local interests" of sectors and fields, the top legislator added.- (VLLF)
