Government plan on external information introduced
The external information press service will focus on disseminating information on the nation’s seas, islands and border affairs.

In 2015, the Ministry ofInformation and Communications will coordinate with ministries, sectors, newsagencies and provincial-level People’s Committees in elaborating the masterplan on external information system and further disseminating information on Vietnam’ssovereignty over seas and islands.

Such is among the tasksset forth in the external information plan of the Government during 2015-2017,approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 587/QD-TTg of May 5.

Specifically, theexternal information system will focus on providing information on the nationalborders and sovereignty over seas and islands, educating about human rights,and strongly opposing false allegations on the situation of human rights in Vietnam.

Related ministries andsectors are urged to implement the plan to build overseas Vietnamese culturalcenters during the 2016-20 period, and the plan to improve the effectiveness ofexternal information of overseas Vietnamese representative missions through2020. They are also tasked to prepare a plan to set up a group of overseasVietnamese collaborators.

The plan also specifiesother tasks of creating multimedia and multilingual products with high culturalcontents; promoting images, potentials and strengths of sectors and localitiesto develop tourism and attract foreign investment; organizing VietnameseCulture Days or Weeks in foreign countries and anniversaries of establishmentof diplomatic relations between Vietnam and foreign countries; and introducing documentsaffirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos insome strategic localities at home and abroad.

The Decision, which takeseffect on May 5, aims to improve legal documents as well as mechanisms andpolicies, and promote external information activities to serve the nation’sinternational integration.-
