Facing the risk of drugs infiltrating local schools in sophisticated disguises, the Lam Dong Department of Education and Training, in coordination with education institutions and competent authorities, is stepping up the innovation of public communication about drug prevention and control. By shifting from rigid knowledge delivery to visual, experiential methods, application of digital technology and lecture integration, schools across the province are helping their pupils become deeply aware of and proactively identify drug-related risks and hone their self-protection skills.
Lam Dong renovates anti-drug education and learning materials
Implementing the National Target Programme on Drug Prevention and Control through 2030, the Lam Dong Department of Education and Training has organised the 2026 professional contest on drug prevention and control to bring opportunities for education administrators and teachers to exchange and update knowledge and innovate methods of communications in schools.
The Department’s Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Thu stated that the 2026 contest was not merely a knowledge-seeking event but also aimed at intensifying education about drug prevention and control and helping education administrators and teachers update legal knowledge, renew methods and formats of communications and incorporate real-life situations, experiential activities, and digital learning materials into their professional practice.
The contest is also intended to discover, select and replicate quality lessons and electronic lectures, thereby creating a long-term source of learning materials for educational institutions.
All entries were sent from throughout the province to the provincial organising board before September 22, 2026. After this round, outstanding entries will be sent to the national organising board before October 10, 2026, for the national round.
At the provincial round, each contestant is required to make one digitised (encrypted and anonymised) product under 1GB in size, comprising a lesson plan or an educational activity and a corresponding electronic lecture.
All contestants were required to transform rigid contents into visual lessons connected to practical scenarios that students might encounter in real life. Through electronic lectures, experiential activities and responsive exercises, pupils will learn about harmful effects of drugs and acquire useful skills to identify risks and seek support when necessary.
Based on marking results, 15 contestants will be selected from three educational levels in the locality to represent Lam Dong province in the national round.
Innovative models of anti-drug communication in schools
In response to the Department’s Plan 371/KH-SGD dated September 7, 2026, on launching the competition “Understanding the Law on Drug Prevention and Control”, schools across the province have diversified their methods of communications suited to each educational level.
Quang Tin commune’s Luong The Vinh lower secondary school has determined that communications and education about drug prevention and control must be conducted regularly, proactively and from the beginning of every school year. School principal Nguyen Thi Hien emphasised that helping pupils correctly understand and know how to dodge drugs and their harmful effects so that each of them become an active ”link” in building a safe, healthy and drug-free school environment is a top educational priority. Therefore, the school has organised an extra-curricular session for all administrators, teachers and pupils in the spirit of "Learning through play - playing through learning" via skits, presentations and the “Ring the Golden Bell” contest.

In providing warnings and skill guidance, the office provided information about the situation and tactics of drug criminals, the risks of drugs being disguised or concealed in various forms or enticing pupils via social media and personal relationships.
The office has requested the school to continue integrating law education and closely monitoring pupils’ conditions, confirming they will continue coordinating with local departments, sectors, organisations and education institutions in intensifying communications about drug prevention and control.- (VLLF)
