Lao, VN leaders mark friendship

Updated: 16:09’ - 30/07/2012

Leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government on July 18 separately received Bounhang Volachith, Politburo member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and permanent member of the LPRP Central Committee’s Secretariat and Vice President.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed Bounhang Volachith and his delegation at celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 35 years since the signing of a Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between the two countries.

He said in any circumstances, Vietnam would spare no effort to foster the special solidarity between the two countries in the interests of each country and its people - and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Volachith said Laos would work closely with Vietnam to implement all agreements between senior leaders of both Parties and States.

President Truong Tan Sang said both sides would continue to maintain exchanges of delegations at all levels to tighten friendship and mutual confidence, particularly in the 2012 Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.

Vice President Volachith spoke highly of activities in the friendship year, saying that cooperation exchange in politics, economics and culture had been more substantial and effective.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation were invaluable treasures. Both Parties and States should boost activities to educate the younger generation on maintaining and promoting this sentiment.-
