>>Vietnam’s Law Day to be celebrated
After five years of implementation nationwide, the Vietnam Law Day has had spillover effects for and received response from the whole citizenry, creating positive changes in the country’s political, legal, economic and social life, Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long said in an interview recently granted to the Phap luat Viet Nam (Vietnam Law) newspaper.

The Law Day is organized every year on November 9 with various activities, focusing on such political and legal issues as the position and role of the Constitution and laws in state management and social life, the sense of law respect, observance and protection, lawmaking process, and organization of law enforcement, Long said.
He said with the people’s active participation in the political-legal life of the country, democracy has been promoted and legislative activities renovated.
The legal system has been improved in close combination with the law enforcement and protection process to suit reality, protect legitimate rights and interests of citizens, ease difficulties for enterprises, accelerate innovative startup activities and contribute to the national development.
However, the Minister also pointed out several weaknesses in the organization of the Law Day, especially the late issuance of guiding documents in many ministries, sectors and localities, and impracticality and lack of activities in celebration of the Law Day in disadvantaged areas.
In response to a question how to better celebrate the Vietnam Law Day in the coming time, the Minister suggested the organization of the Law Day be associated with the performance of socio-economic development tasks and important political-legal events of the country and each ministry, sector and locality.
He also proposed the renewal and diversification of contents and forms for organization of the Law Day, promotion of the application of information technology, especially the role of e-portals and social networks, among others.- (VLLF)
