After a decade of implementation, the Law on Law Dissemination and Education has helped law dissemination activities penetrate deeper into life, thus raising the people’s awareness of strictly abiding by the law.

Such is highlighted by Nguyen Thanh Tinh, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), in his opening speech at the conference reviewing 10 years’ implementation of the Law on Law Dissemination and Education held on December 22 in Hanoi.

According to Tinh, the overall target of the review is to thoroughly evaluate the Law’s implementation, thereby drawing lessons and finding out solutions to raise the quality, effect and effectiveness of the law dissemination work so that by 2030, law abidance becomes the sense of responsibility of every entity in the society.

In the summary report on the Law’s implementation by ministries, sectors and localities nationwide, Deputy Director Phan Hong Nguyen of the MOJ's Law Dissemination and Education Department said during the 2012-22 period, local authorities across the country organized over 30,000 meetings on law dissemination and education for around 2.7 million participants who are cadres, rapporteurs, law communicators and mediators at the grassroots level.

At the same time, nearly 6,000 legal documents had been distributed to officers engaged in law dissemination and education work and more than 100,000 articles on legal issues had been broadcasted in the mass media.

In response to the Vietnam’s Law Day, since 2013, 120 contests had been launched to help citizens learn legislations, Nguyen added, noting that this helped the people become more proactive in studying law and use law as an effective tool to protect their lawful rights and interests.

“It also helped prevent and mitigate acts of violations and social vices, and promptly settle conflicts and disputes in different sectors and fields”, Nguyen said.

Vietnam Law and Legal Forum magazine is among the press agencies that have significantly contributed to the law dissemination and education work, with more than 700 articles on legal issues, and nearly a thousand legal documents translated into English every year. At the conference, the magazine was awarded a certificate of merit from the MOJ for its contributions to law dissemination activities over the 10-year period.- (VLLF)
