More loans for rural clean water supply and environmental sanitation projects

Under Prime Minister Decision No. 18/2014/QD-TTg of March 3, amending and supplementing Article 3 of Decision No. 62/2004/QD-TTg of April 16, 2004, on credit for the implementation of the national strategy for clean water supply and environmental sanitation in rural areas, each household may get a VND 6 million loan (against current VND 4 million) for construction, renovation and upgrading of water supply and environmental sanitation facilities.

Accordingly, the time limit, conditions and procedures for loan provision and guarantee comply with Government Decree No. 78/2002/ND-CP of October 4, 2002.

Preferential lending interest rate will be decided by the Prime Minister for each period while the interest rate of overdue debts will be equal to 130% of the lending interest rate.

However, during the loan term, households may not sell, transfer or put into pledge those works.

If households sell or transfer their houses and land that have those works, a commitment on loan repayment certified by the People’s Committee or the social policy bank is required.

In addition, economic organizations that are investors of projects on construction, innovation and upgrading of clean water supply facilities in rural areas may enjoy loans with preferential interest rates in accordance with SBV’s current regulations on investment credit policies.-
