Under Resolution 82/NQ-CP issued on May 18, the Government requests the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue implementing the Scheme on restructuring of the tourism sector into a spearhead economic sector, develop and implement the Action Program on green tourism for the 2023-25 period, focusing on protection of the natural and social environments at key tourist destinations under the orientation of creating green, clean, beautiful and friendly tourism destinations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is asked to coordinate with related agencies in submitting to the Government for consideration and promulgation a resolution on extension of unilateral visa exemption for foreign tourists in order to create favorable conditions for attracting foreign tourists to Vietnam; and at the same time, intensifying the negotiation on visa exemption agreements with foreign countries, particularly those at the same or higher development level.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Security will continue improving policies on immigration and travel for foreign tourists and report and propose to the Government for expansion of the list of foreign countries eligible for grant of e-visa, aiming to ensure the consistent implementation of regulations on grant of electronic and traditional visas and extend the stay period of foreigners in Vietnam.
The Ministry will also have to propose to the National Assembly for revision the Law on Foreigners’ Entry in, Exit from, Transit through, and Residence in, Vietnam with a view to creating more favorable conditions for foreigners to enter Vietnam, while drastically improving the security control of entry and exit procedures for foreign tourists at airports.
Under the Resolution, the Ministry of Transport will be responsible for creating more favorable conditions for international airlines to open flight routes to Vietnam.- (VLLF)
