Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the need to create a new legal framework for the fossil energy conversion policy to green and renewable energy at a meeting on the amended draft Electricity Law in Hanoi on July 15.

At the event, the Deputy PM asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to address and supplement legal deficiencies and gaps in the electricity sector.

Deputy PM Ha stressed the need for the law to establish a legal framework for research, technology acquisition and transfer of new energy technologies, separate state management from business and production and promote the  production of green hydrogen and green ammonia.

He highlighted the focus on clarifying three major policy groups, saying that the most challenging and critical policy group involves developing the electricity market under a market economy regime, ensuring transparency and competition from selecting project investors to determining electricity prices for consumers.

He also underscored the importance of setting up renewable energy industrial centers and offshore wind energy.

The Deputy PM said that the ministry should focus on regulations on efficient energy use, environmental protection and Vietnam's strategy to become a regional and global energy center.__(VLLF)
