Plenum focuses on further preparations of personnel for key leading positions of next tenure
The XIth Party Central Committee opened its 14th plenum on January 11 in Hanoi, focusing its agenda on preparations for signing the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and continued preparations of personnel of the Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the next tenure.

The XIth Party Central Committee opened its 14th plenum on January 11 in Hanoi, focusing its agenda on preparations for signing the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and continued preparations of personnel of the Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the next tenure.

Opening the plenum, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong instructed the Party Central Committee to carefully study the Politburo’s report and give comments for completing the Report on personnel of the XIth Party Central Committee for submission to the upcoming XIIth National Party Congress, and nominate personnel for four key leading positions of the XIIth tenure.

This plenum is of paramount importance since it is expected to make further preparations for successful organization of the XIIth National Party Congress, Trong noted.

The Party leader requested the Party Central Committee’s members to study, discuss and give comments on the negotiation results of the TPP agreement; analyze and assess the impacts of Vietnam’s participation in the TPP; and point out advantages and opportunities, difficulties and challenges, as well as matters related to revision of laws, policies and measures as stated in the Politburo’s report.

He also asked the Committee’s members to give opinions on the official signing of the TPP agreement and submit it to the National Assembly for approval.

In addition, the Party chief urged the members to draw up, and organize the implementation of, action plans and programs for implementing the TPP agreement so as to meet the set objectives and requirements for the sake of national interests.

The plenum is slated to last through January 13.- (VLLF)
