PM approves list of technologies prioritized for research and development
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved a list of technologies prioritized for research and development in a bid to facilitate the country’s involvement in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 16 approved a list of technologies prioritized for research and development in a bid to facilitate the country’s involvement in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Under Decision 2117, the listed technologies belong to four areas namely digital technologies, physics, biotechnology, and energy and environment.

Specifically, digital technologies include artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, big data and analytics, blockchain, cloud computing, quantum computing, next-generation network technology, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, intelligence-remediation-adaptation cyber security, plant simulation, and precision agriculture.

Physics includes robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles, 3D printing, nanotechnology, functional material manufacturing technology, technology for designing and manufacturing micro and small satellites, and photonic technology.

Biotechnology includes synthetic biology, neurotechnology, stem cells, enzyme technology, bioinformatics, biochip and biosensor, regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, and next-generation sequencing.

Energy and environment technologies include fuel cell manufacturing technology, hydrogen energy, photovoltaics, advanced energy storage, carbon capture and storage, geothermal energy, smart grids, etc.

The Decision requires relevant authorities to devise orientations and allocate resources for technology research, development and application.- (VLLF)
