PM okays master plan to develop hi-tech parks
The Prime Minister on June 8 approved the master plan to develop hi-tech parks through 2020, with a vision toward 2030, under Decision No. 792/QD-TTg.

In a move to promote the sustainable development of hi-tech parks nationwide, renew growth models, increase the economy’s competitiveness and accelerate the national industrialization and modernization process, the Prime Minister on June 8 approved the master plan to develop hi-tech parks through 2020, with a vision toward 2030, under Decision No. 792/QD-TTg.

Accordingly, with a view to attracting more investments in the hi-tech industries, contributing to the national scientific and technological development, the master plan envisages the building of hi-tech parks invested by provinces or centrally run cities with local budgets and other sources from all economic sectors.

By 2030, three existing national hi-tech parks including Hoa Lac hi-tech park (Hanoi), Ho Chi Minh City hi-tech park and Da Nang hi-tech park will be further developed with complete and modern infrastructure systems.

Other hi-tech parks to be built under the master plan will be Hanoi biological hi-tech park, Dong Nai biological hi-tech park and Ascendas-Protrade hi-tech park in Binh Duong province.

In addition to improving mechanisms and policies on hi-tech parks, the master plan stresses that raising capital from all economic sectors, especially the private sector and foreign investors, will be one of the important solutions to develop hi-tech parks in the future. State budget allocations, if any, will be used only for completion of infrastructure facilities in national hi-tech parks.-
