President Nguyen Minh Triet on November 17 affirmed that Vietnam wished to promote long-standing friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Singapore as the country’s third largest trading partner and fifth largest investor.
The President made the affirmation at a political and business forum during his first state-level official visit to Singapore lasting two days.
The forum included the signing of several memorandums of understanding on maritime transportation; house construction; and the issuance of bonds by Vietnamese businesses on Singapore’s stock market.
Vietnam would accelerate the completion of market economy institutions, improve its business environment and work on ensuring sustainable development, the state leader said, adding that Vietnam would also prepare to sign bilateral multilateral free trade agreements, while improving cooperation with other countries in the region and the world.-
