State President Nguyen Minh Triet has decided to grant amnesty to prisoners on the National Day occasion.
Under Decision No. 1012/2007/QD-CTN dated September 2, prisoners eligible for the amnesty include those who are currently serving their sentences at prisons or detention camps managed by the Ministry of Public Security or the Ministry of Defense, and people who were sentenced to imprisonment but whose sentences were suspended.
To be eligible for amnesty, prisoners must show good behaviors while serving their sentences and have committed to become useful citizens, provided that their release must not be detrimental to national security or social order.
