Learning from other countries’ experience is essential for Vietnam’s judicial reform, President Nguyen Minh Triet said on November 9 at a reception for the delegates of the 13th conference of chief judges of the Asia-Pacific region.
The four-day conference in Ho Chi Minh City, which would compare notes concerning judicial developments in the region, was of great significance to the host country, he said.
Vietnam has done its best to reform its judicial system to be clean and strong, which can protect people’s interests, and hopes to learn experience of other countries for application in its specific context, the state leader said.
The biennial meeting, hosted in turn by member nations, debated seven issues including the development of the judiciary in the region and the role of chief judges in promoting public perception of the significance of courts and maintaining judicial ethics.
