Spreaders of false information to face hefty fines
A fine of between VND 75 and 100 million would be imposed on acts of publishing or broadcasting false information on market developments or goods or service prices, causing public anxiety and market disorder.

This is provided in a draft decree on sanctioning of administrative violations related to the provision, dissemination, publishing and broadcasting of false information.

Under the 10-article draft, which is compiled by the Ministry of Justice, those who provide false information on the existence of bombs, mines, explosive materials, explosives, radioactive substances or biological weapons would face a fine of VND 3-5 million, provided their acts do not affect civil aviation activities. However, if normal civil aviation activities are affected, the applicable fine would mount to VND 20-30 million.

Acts of providing or publishing false information or data on, or the situation of, infectious diseases and epidemics would be fined VND 3-5 million.

Meanwhile, a fine of VND 4-6 million would be imposed on acts of providing or publishing false information on mistakes in exam questions, disclosure of exam questions or answers or negative phenomena or fraudulence in annual national upper-secondary graduation and higher education entrance exams.-
