US investors have responded positively to Vietnam’s growth potential at the investment promotion conference which was jointly organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance and several US partners in New York on July 1-5.
A State Securities Commission report said that several major investors expressed their desire to invest or strengthen existing investments in Vietnam.
Billionaire Wilbur Ross from WL Ross & Co said national efforts to restructure the economy, especially via tax reforms and policies to simplify investment procedures for foreigners, had interested US investors.
The real estate sector and key export products of Vietnam would see rising foreign interest in the future, he said, adding that there would also be a significant influx of foreign capital in the domestic stock market as more state-owned enterprises were equitized.
“The Vietnamese Government expects foreign investors, including those in the US, to take interest in these opportunities in Vietnam,” said Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung.
He emphasized that Vietnam has been consistent in accelerating administrative reform, information technology application and international integration for better economic development.-
