Vietnam, Bulgaria to prioritize new model of economic cooperation
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in all fields toward establishing a strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Nguyen TanDung and his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov, during the former’s two-dayvisit to Bulgariafrom June 5, agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in all fields towardestablishing a strategic partnership.

They said priority wouldbe given to promoting a new model of economic cooperation, and trade andinvestment links.

Both leaders expressed determinationto boost trade exchange and facilitate partnership between business communitiesin their countries, especially in transport infrastructure, irrigation system, garmentmaterials, electricity and renewable energies, chemicals and pharmaceuticals,information technology and biotechnology, and post-harvest processing.

They also agreed tostrengthen ties in education and training, national defense and security,science and technology, culture, tourism and transport.

Dung thanked Bulgaria for adding Vietnam to the list of partners inits 2015 development cooperation agenda and called for greater joint efforts inenvironmental protection, waste treatment, water resource management and relic restoration.

He said Vietnam would provide all possiblesupport for Bulgarian businesses to invest in urban planning, application ofbiotechnology in agriculture and healthcare, information technology andcommunications, effective use of energy, environmental protection, foodprocessing and tourism.

For his part, Borissovsaid Bulgaria backed thestrengthening of relationship between Vietnam and the EU, and would pushfor EU’s early ratification of the Vietnam-EU Framework Agreement onComprehensive Partnership and Cooperation, and the signing of a Vietnam-EU FreeTrade Agreement.

Following their talks, the two PrimeMinisters issued a Vietnam-Bulgaria joint communiqué and witnessed the signingof a cooperation agreement on crime control between the two governments, a2016-17 cooperation scheme between the two justice ministries, and memoranda ofunderstanding on establishing friendly and cooperative ties between Ho Chi MinhCity and Sofia city, and between Can Tho city and Rousse city.-
